Right to Social Security
Social Security is not a handout — it’s a promise. A promise that every working American has paid into and deserves to count on when they need it most. Whether you’re retired, disabled, a survivor, or a caregiver, Social Security is a vital lifeline — and it must be protected, expanded, and honored.
But right now, that promise is under attack.
Donald Trump and his allies are running a dangerous con, threatening to gut or dismantle Social Security entirely. If they succeed, nearly 69 million Americans — almost a fifth of our country — will be thrown into economic chaos. These are not abstract numbers. These are our parents, our neighbors, our disabled siblings, and millions of people who worked hard and paid into the system. And I’m not just speaking as a candidate — I’ve been through the system. I personally endured a three-year battle with Social Security, and without emergency mortgage assistance, my family would have lost our home. I’d encourage all members of congress and Americans to protest together.
This is personal.
That’s why it’s not enough for Democrats to simply “express concern” while our most vulnerable face eviction, food insecurity, or worse. We must act. If Social Security is cut, I will be the first to call for a general strike. That’s how seriously I take this issue.
But protecting Social Security is just the start — we must expand it:
Increase monthly payouts so seniors, disabled Americans, and survivors can actually live with dignity.
Tie benefits to true cost-of-living adjustments that reflect today’s economy — not outdated metrics.
Guarantee credits and stipends for stay-at-home parents and caregivers, because raising kids and caring for family is work.
Ensure equal payouts regardless of marital status — your value to this country should not be determined by your paperwork.
Fully fund and expand SSA offices and staff so no one has to wait years for life-saving support or face retaliation for speaking out. Our caseworkers and judges are overburdened. It’s time we support them like they support us.
Social Security affects everyone: retirees, disabled Americans, stay-at-home parents, and future generations. We all know someone who depends on it — or we will someday ourselves. So let’s treat it like the sacred trust that it is.
As your Congressman, I will fight to protect and expand Social Security — not for politics, but for survival, for dignity, and for justice.
