š³ļøāš LGBTQ+ Rights & Military Integrity
Every American deserves to live freely and with dignityĀ -no matter who they are or who they love. That includes our LGBTQ+ neighbors, students, workers, veterans, and service members. As your Congressman, I will fight to ensure equal protection under federal law for all.
Restoring Integrity in Our Armed Forces
When someone volunteers to serve our country, their identity should be respected, not attacked. The recent wave of political assaults on LGBTQ+ service members is un-American and undermines military readiness.
I support:
Codifying the right to serve for transgender Americans by passing the Military Readiness Enhancement Act, ensuring no future president can reverse this with a tweet or executive order.
Restoring benefits and honors to LGBTQ+ veterans discharged under discriminatory policies like āDonāt Ask, Donāt Tellā through legislation like the Restore Honor to Service Members Act.
Expanding federal support for LGBTQ+ mental health, anti-harassment protections, and health services through the VA and DoD, including culturally competent care.
Protecting LGBTQ+ Rights Nationwide
LGBTQ+ Americans still face discrimination in housing, employment, education, and healthcare -especially under state-level attacks. In Congress, Iāll work to pass and defend:
The Equality Act, which would update the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity across all 50 states.
Federal protections for gender-affirming care, opposing cruel and politically motivated state bans targeting trans youth and adults.
National standards that protect LGBTQ+ students from bullying and ensure they can learn in safe, affirming school environments.
Inclusive policy directives across federal agencies from HHS to HUDĀ to reflect American values of fairness, privacy, and respect.
This Is About Freedom
This is not a āculture war.ā Itās a civil rights issue. No American should be afraid to live authentically or be forced to hide who they are to access public services, succeed in school, or serve in uniform.
The fight for LGBTQ+ rights is a fight for the soul of our democracy and Iām ready to lead that fight in Congress.

Gender-Affirming Care for Youth Includes:
Mental health support:
Counseling with licensed therapists who help youth explore their gender identity and provide support for depression, anxiety, or dysphoria.
Support for the family to understand and affirm their childās identity.
Social affirmation:
Supporting the youth in using their chosen name, pronouns, clothing, and appearance that reflect their gender identity.
Respecting their identity in school, home, and healthcare settings.
Medical options (when appropriate and under strict guidelines):
Puberty blockers: Safe, reversible medications that pause puberty to give young people time to understand their gender identity without the added stress of irreversible physical changes.
Hormone therapy (e.g., estrogen or testosterone): Typically offered only after age 16 and with comprehensive medical and mental health evaluation, consent from guardians, and ongoing supervision.
No surgery for minors:
Major surgeries (like gender-affirming surgeries) are rare and not recommended for minors by leading medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Endocrine Society.
Why This Matters:
Gender-affirming care:
Reduces suicide risk and mental health issues among transgender youth.
Helps families stay connected and supportive.
Is endorsed by every major U.S. medical and psychological association.
This care is about listening, supporting, and affirming, not rushing or pushing medical interventions.
Iāve raised four daughters. Iāve fought to keep our home. I know what itās like when WIC isn’t enough, when formula runs out, and when the rent climbs higher than your paycheck.
