Foreign Policy: Restoring American Integrity and Global Leadership

I grew up believing that America was respected not just for its military power, but for its moral leadership. We stood against tyranny, supported rebuilding after war, and upheld human rights around the world. Today, that legacy is being eroded by short-sighted politics, corporate interests, and performative nationalism.

I’m running for Congress to help restore a foreign policy that reflects the best of who we are honest, accountable, and human-centered.

A Foreign Policy That Centers People, Not Power

For decades, U.S. foreign aid and arms exports have disproportionately served political elites, defense contractors, and strategic interests often at the expense of innocent civilians. It’s time we demand higher standards.

I will fight to ensure that:

✅ The Leahy Laws are fully enforced, cutting U.S. security assistance to any foreign military units involved in gross human rights violations.

✅ No U.S. taxpayer dollars or weapons go to regimes that violate international humanitarian law including Saudi Arabia, Israel, and others when credible reports of war crimes arise.

✅ We condition military and economic aid on clear, measurable commitments to human rights, rule of law, and press freedom.

✅ A permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages is prioritized through a credible diplomatic process that includes both Palestinian and Israeli civilians, not just their governments.

Congress has the power of the purse. I will use it to push for truth, transparency, and accountability.

Stand Up to Authoritarians, Abroad and at Home

From Putin in Russia to Orbán in Hungary, right-wing authoritarianism is on the rise and too many American politicians are cheering it on.

Trump’s admiration for dictators isn’t just dangerous rhetoric. His cuts to critical global health and humanitarian programs, including the PEPFAR HIV/AIDS program have cost tens of thousands of lives, especially in Africa. That’s cruelty, not strategy.

As your representative, I will:

✅ Restore and expand U.S. leadership in global public health, including PEPFAR, maternal health programs, and anti-poverty initiatives dismantled by Trump.

✅ Support democracy aid and press freedom support in fragile and emerging democracies.

✅ Protect U.S. institutions from foreign disinformation campaigns and digital interference, especially on platforms like Facebook and TikTok.

Rebuild Relationships in the Western Hemisphere

Foreign policy starts at home with our closest neighbors.

Whether it was threats to invade Canada, buy Greenland, or militarize the Panama Canal, Trump’s reckless diplomacy damaged relationships that took generations to build. I support a reset based on mutual respect, trade fairness, and shared prosperity with:

✅ Mexico, our largest trading partner and critical ally in managing migration and fentanyl supply chains.

✅ Canada, our defense and intelligence partner through NORAD and NATO.

✅ Caribbean and Latin American nations, where we must invest in climate resilience, fair trade, and democratic stability to prevent crises that fuel migration and unrest.

Real Leadership, Not Performative Patriotism

You can’t scream “America First” while quietly outsourcing U.S. manufacturing to China and letting corporations slap fake “Made in America” labels on imported goods. That’s not patriotism -it’s gaslighting.

Foreign policy should reflect American values, not billionaire interests or culture wars.

I will fight for a United States that leads with dignity, partnership, and courage not domination. The world still wants America to lead. Let’s give them something worth following.
